Job DescriptionThe World e-Governments Organization of Cities and Local Governments (WeGO) is now looking for suitable candidates for the organization’s leadership position, the Secretary General, who will guide the organization with strategic vision and strong leadership and propel WeGO into the next phase of the organization’s development.

Secretary General’s Tasks and Responsibilities:

1. Management and supervision of (i) the administration of the Secretariat, including budget, finances and human resources, and (ii) the activities of the Secretariat, including projects and services provided to WeGO members, marketing and communications.
2. Management of the preparation of the meetings of the General Assembly and Executive Committee and the effective performance of the functions and duties assigned by them.
3. Formulation of the overall vision and strategy of the organization in medium- and long-term business plans and the exercise of leadership pursuant to the priorities and strategies set by such plans.
4. Preparation and presentation of an Annual Report, which includes the business plan for the following year, at each Executive Committee meeting.
5. Effective fundraising from international agencies, the private sector and other sources, for the provision of benefits to WeGO members and the diversification of WeGO’s funding.
6. Representation of WeGO at networking events and proactive partnership building with global partners for the enhanced visibility of the WeGO brand, improved services to WeGO members and strengthened international WeGO network.
7. Membership management and expansion.
8. Communications with the President of WeGO
9. Ensuring WeGO’s compliance with rules, regulations and good practice in the discharge of the organization’s functions and duties. 
Job RequirementThe applicant must have the following qualifications:

1. A professional, international mind-set and a future-oriented vision
2. Ten or more years of work experience in public or international organizations, academia, research organizations, or the private sector in the field of e-Government, ICT, and international cooperation/development. Applicants who have worked in an international context related to ICT field will be given preference.
3. Perfect command of and native-level proficiency in English (Applicants who are also fluent in other official languages of the United Nations such as French, Chinese, Spanish, Russian, and Arabic are welcomed.)
4. Strong leadership ability to provide clear direction and strategies for WeGO and the organizational operation of the WeGO Secretariat
5. Experiences in successful partnerships with other international organizations and effective fundraising as well as excellent communication, negotiation, collaboration and networking skills
6. Ability to travel abroad
