Announcement on Change in Application for Extension of Stay for Departure

▣ Permission for Extension of Stay for Departure related to COVID-19 can ONLY be filed through e-Application services from September 1 (Tues.), 2020.

〔How to Apply for Extension of Stay for Departure〕
① (Long-term visitors) HiKorea ☞ Petition Application ☞ e-Application ☞ Extension of Stay for Departure for Registered Foreigners ※ Yet, Non-Professional (E-9) and Maritime Crew (E-10) are excluded
② (Short-term visitors) HiKorea ☞ Petition Application ☞ e-Application ☞ (COVID-19) Extension of Stay for Departure for Short-term Visitors
▣ Note: Applications can only be made online from September 9(Wed.) after allowing for in-person (by visit) applications at Immigration Offices from September 1 (Mon.) until September 8 (Tues.) for applicants’ convenience as well as to prevent confusions in its implementation.
▣ If eligible and granted, Extension of Stay for Departure will be allowed for maximum 60 days. (case by case)
▣ Submission of documents proving the place of residence is required for Extension of Stay for Departure and Postponement of the Termination of Departure during using e-application services even when one’s place of residence has not changed as identifying foreign residents’ place of residence has also become crucial in containing the spread of infection during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. (in effect from January 1 (Fri.), 2021)_Updated on Dec. 22, 2020.
